White China are back with a brand new taster of their upcoming sophomore EP titled ‘II’. The song ‘Blackout’ is a spell-binding ode to a dark, impending melancholy. ‘Please excuse me for my wicked ways’, sings frontman Gianluca Buccellati in a surge of emotional lyricism. “This song, he says, is about that kind of depression where you don't want to wake up so you sleep all day. You don't want to eat, and you don't want to talk to anyone about it. You'd rather avoid life altogether.” This highly personal, evocative recount of sombre moments is superbly paired with a rich and layered production that truly stands out as a testament to Gianluca’s skill as a producer as well as songwriter.

If you haven’t heard of LA-based duo White China yet, you are most likely familiar with frontman Gianluca’s sound print, as his previous production work includes artists like Tei Shi, Arlo Parks, TENDER and Colouring. And while production is a big part of his music career, White China is his outlet and playground. As he explains, ‘White China is an opportunity for me to express myself and go inwards. To be a vulnerable person… A departure from the nit-picky-ness of the other work I do’.
