A more laid-back affair, musically, but lyrically not so passive!
"My lyrics focus on the different types of monarchy and hierarchies in the society, world, arts, alchemy, conspiracy theories, memory, history, economically, scientifically and spiritually. It's mainly about taking pride in not being part of the hierarchy and all the corruption and horror the paradigms of royalty have caused the world. In that, it offers an alternative point of view to take pride in aka being anything but royalty, and wanting nothing to do with their violent legacy and wasting no energy paying attention to the celebrity culture they've created. This goes for the so-called "kings of rap" as well. All in all it's a song concerned with celebrating the working class and our elaborate imaginations". - Malik Ameer

Madison Washington, the duo from New York and Sheffield is Malik Ameer, an emcee from California/New York and producer/DJ thatmanmonkz from Sheffield, England.
Malik Ameer is an established emcee in the experimental rap/jazz scenes of California and NYC. An internationally published poet that also hosts and curates Poets Live in Paris, France (the oldest running Anglophone reading series in Paris). As a producer and emcee Malik's worked with Leron Thomas,Jamika Ajalon, Jonathan Finlayson, Lorin Benedict, Josh Jones, Daniel Belquer, Otayo Dubb,Bayonics and Balance. He is the founder and editor for several lit journals in New York and Paris as well as writing for the likes of The Rumpus, PANK, Maintenant 11, Multiracial Media, and Onslaught Press.
