SAMSON SCHMITT, gypsy, from the Lorraine region of France who grew up playing alongside his dad, legendary gypsy guitarist DORADO SCHMITT, takes the lead as he rises to stardom. Downbeat Magazine’s Allen Morrison wrote of Schmitt at Newport.. “lightening licks… melodic genius” Schmitt is joined by LUDOVIC BEIER on Accordion and Accordina … a favorite at the Festival. Morrison wrote of Beier “played like an angel…and as good a solo as was heard at Newport”.
PIERRE BLANCHARD on Violin brings the house to its feet with incredible fire and virtuosity, joined by rhythm great DOUDOU CUILLERIER who’s also a mean scat singer. ANTONIO LICUSATI on Bass ‘is the power’ that holds it all up.

July 4 and 5: VERONICA SWIFT, at 23, is an up and coming jazz vocal star, known for her distinctive voice, sterling musicianship, and deep repertoire.
July 6 and 7: GRACE KELLY plays the sax with the heart and passion of an old soul, yet with the genre bending zest and energy of a 24-year old, appearing at major festivals and clubs.
July 8 & 9: JAZZMEIA HORN, 26, Winner of the Monk Competition and and recently signed to Prestige Records…”A Jazz Vocalist on the Rise….and most talked about “….” New York Times
The Django Festival Allstars return to BIRDLAND, The Festival’s US Home’, for the Grand Finale of this great month-long tour.
