Hair Rock and Glam Rock are coming back in 2010!

Like we wrote last week (READ HERE), 40 years ago, englishman Marc Bolan fronted the then debut act T-Rex and changed the way rock music looked in the final chapter of the hippie era, incorporating extravagant stage sets and costumes as part of the show.

30 years on saw Finnish based glam act and so-called Love Metal artist HIM pave the way for other prominent melodic, more synth-pop acts, to edge their way out of Scandinavia onto the global scene. One of these bands is Negative, active since the end of 1997.

Members of Negative cite Guns N' Roses, Queen, and Hanoi Rocks as being influential on their music. The current Finnish forefront rock band has released their fifth album last summer. The new album, Neon, has been recorded at Broken Wave Studios in Los Angeles.

This has been a dream come true for the band coming from Tampere, that released their debut album War of Love and hit track The Moment of Our Love to local critical acclaim in 2003. Their following two albums (Sweet & Deceitful, 2004 and Anorectic, 2006) reached the top spot in the Finnish Album Charts. An MTV Music Award for Best Finnish Act followed in 2007.

In 2011, the band includes Romania on their Neon Tour, with one show in Cluj-Napoca (Monday, January 17^th, Irish&Music Pub @ 7:30 p.m.). Local teenage acts Bloodprint and Mute have been invited to open.

CZB: Why the Negative name? Doesn't your music have a Positive sound?

Jonne Aaron (Negative): I had been rebelling for 14 years and it was just me against the world, and I adored NIRVANA. they had a song which was called NEGATIVE CREEP. I just skipped Creep and that's it!

CZB: You have a long list of Finnish Number One Singles. What does a Number 1 Single mean in Sales Figures in a country having 5.5 milion people?

Jonne Aaron (Negative): U make living with that.

CZB: Your Videos. Is it a Laitmotiv to always have nice girls doing things around the band playing live?

Jonne Aaron (Negative): We love girls doing things around us...

CZB: You are brand new to Romania; how has your image developed through the years?

Jonne Aaron (Negative): Naturally... Compare it to Queen... soon i'll have my moustache era.

CZB: Does the recent line-up change have anything to do with the major record deal contract and recording in the States? Who has left the band, apart from guitarist Sir Christus?

Jonne Aaron (Negative): There are five original members in the band, we didn't have to replace anybody.

CZB: Do you consider you have found your Unique Sound and what is Unique in your music now?

Jonne Aaron (Negative): To me music is just music. It's not about the sounds or how good you are, its all about FEELINGS.

CZB: The Neon Tour. You have a Club Show in Cluj. Are you bringing any neon lights along? How many neon signs did you buy off of eBay while recording the album in L.A.?

Jonne Aaron (Negative): Yes we will be bringing some for the stage, of course...

CZB: You have a tradition of giving roses to the audience after your shows ... how did this start and will this be happening in Cluj?

Jonne Aaron (Negative): Let's see... if they got our backstage rider...

CZB: What was the L.A. experience like? How long did you stay and what amused you most about the American way of life?

Jonne Aaron (Negative): I stayed there about 3 months..

I love the American way of life, except everything is just about money, money, money, money....

CZB: You have had a music collaboration with Katri Helena, the queen of Finnish traditional music for 47 years... How does Love Metal get along with Finnish Kantele?

Jonne Aaron (Negative): I do not know about love metal, about that you have to ask Mr.Valo, but with our band it was awesome. A once in a life kind of thing; she literally is the queen.

CZB: What would the Negative New Year Resolution be, for 2011?

Jonne Aaron (Negative): Touring... and reaching new fans.
