Kate Mattison of 79.5 describes how the new single came about to Billboard: “Like many of the girl group classics, ‘Boy Don't Be Afraid’ is a song about love. But beyond that, it is a song about being—being hopeful, being romantic, being brave. A romantic stance and a declaration of love through melody. And like a classic New York deli cup of coffee, light and sweet.”

With three female lead vocalists alongside a band that pulls influence from every corner of a record store they have perfected their unique and infectious sound. From their humble beginnings gigging at Sunny’s Bar in Red Hook, to getting signed by Big Crown Records, to their full page Goings On About Town in The New Yorker when they only had a 45 out; their success has been a testament to the strength of the music.

The band released their first single ‘Terrorize My Heart’ in September 2016 which has been heavily supported across the US on tastemaker radio programs at KCRW, WFMU, and KEXP as well as overseas by the likes of Giles Peterson and Radio Nova. They have played some of the most hip and notable stages in NYC from Bowery Ballroom to Baby’s All Right, and recently finished a US tour opening for Chicano Batman.

79.5 is one of New York City’s most adored underground acts. Today the band announces debut album ‘Predictions’ out September 28 on Big Crown Records. ‘Predictions’ was produced by Big Crown co-owner Leon Michels(El Michels Affair, Lee Fields, Lana Del Rey, The Arcs) and recorded at the Diamond Mine in Queens live to tape.
